Close to Home

40"x 40” original painting of Close to Home

I loved layering this porch with collected pots, hanging baskets, and a magnolia tree in the foreground- as if the homeowner had run out of room in the garden and simply kept finding new places for things to grow. I set the scene at dawn or dusk, before the day’s heat settles in, letting the crape myrtle cast soft, speckled shadows across the lush garden and give the entire porch a warm golden glow.
