Painting What I Love

I’m Casey Langteau Johnson, a New Orleans-based artist creating peaceful, joy-filled paintings that bring charm and meaning into everyday spaces. After earning my degree in Painting and Drawing from LSU, I began developing a style rooted in softness, texture, and story.

I work almost exclusively with a palette knife, layering soft neutrals and pastels with thick, sculptural strokes that give each piece a sense of depth and movement. My subjects are inspired by the places and moments I love most: New Orleans, the coast, native blooms, Southern architecture, and the simple beauty of everyday life.

When I’m not painting, you’ll likely find me chasing around my toddler, enjoying the city with my husband, traveling somewhere inspiring, or soaking in the quiet details of a slow morning.

Why We are Here

Art has the power to make us feel at home, seen, and inspired—and that’s what I hope this space brings to you. The gallery was created to be more than just a place to find beautiful artwork; it’s a place to connect, to pause, and to celebrate the beauty in our everyday lives.

We also believe in giving back to the city that inspires so much of what we do. Throughout the year, we host fundraisers to support New Orleans-based organizations—because creating a more beautiful world starts right here in our own community.

Today, I have the joy of sharing my work with you through my gallery space on Magazine Street in New Orleans. I designed the space to feel like a natural extension of my artwork: welcoming, peaceful, and personal. With its cozy, home-like atmosphere, every corner is curated to help you envision how a piece might live in your own space

The Journey So Far

Etsy side business to gallery owner

What began as a creative side hustle turned into a dream career—one painting, one collection, and one meaningful connection at a time.

I started by painting mini coastal pieces in the evenings after my 9–5 job, selling them on Etsy as thoughtful, giftable originals. As more people connected with my work, I launched a website, shared my process on Instagram, and began expanding my portfolio to include New Orleans-inspired scenes, florals, and meaningful moments from everyday life.

A few years (and lots of late nights) later, I hosted my first art show, started partnering with boutiques, and found my signature style—layered, textured, and full of Southern charm. Going full-time as an artist opened the door to larger statement pieces, fine art prints, and the launch of my own collections.

What was supposed to be a one-night pop-up at 4700 Magazine Street turned into something much bigger. The gallery space felt like home, so I stayed. I renovated it, opened the doors, hired a team, and never looked back.

Since then, we’ve grown in so many ways—hosting fundraisers for the community, expanding our offerings, building a home studio, and even launching a baby and children’s line inspired by the arrival of my daughter, Camille.

Most recently, I purchased our new gallery home—a forever space where this dream can keep growing. And if you’re reading this, you’re now part of that journey. Thank you for being here.
