They All Asked For You

They All Asked For You

from $1,100.00

Limited edition reworked canvas prints in varying sizes of They All Asked For You from the Something Out Of A Storybook: Baby & Children Collection Collection

This festive painting is my interpretation of the jazzy song “They All Asked for You”, which describes Audubon Zoo animals and cajun favorites calling out for the children to join in on the fun. I depicted the zoo animals marching in a second line, riding a New Orleans streetcar. I loved adding tons of fun throughout the piece. Some of my favorite details include: the “King” of the jungle regally sitting at the top as a king of a parade would, the rightfully appointed jazz instruments, and the tortoise and the hare racing behind the streetcar in tune with a bow-tie decorated penguin who plays a violin. This imaginative piece will inspire playfulness and add charm to any space!

Something OUT OF A STORYBOOK: BABY & CHILDREN COLLECTION

Creating this collection has been nothing short of a dream! These paintings have been on my brain for a while, but I was waiting for the right time to paint such special, jovial artwork. When I found out that we would be expecting our first child this summer, I knew I had to get started creating this adorable collection.

Have you experienced  moments where everything seems too good to be true, somewhat surreal, or something like it’s straight out of a storybook?... Have you ever then feared something happening to wreck such bliss?

Throughout my journey to motherhood, this has been a frequent feeling. However, I try to actively appreciate the joyous, light-hearted feeling, instead of thinking it's naive and bracing for impact. While I know there will be challenges, I pray that I can relish and appreciate each moment of motherhood and celebrate this incredible gift. I would love to teach my child to cherish these small treasures, but something tells me that he or she will teach me more on enjoying the small, everyday moments.

While painting this collection, I tapped into my best child-like sense of happiness and imagination. I’d think, what would a child love to see… more confetti? Yes! A giraffe with t-rex arms playing the saxophone? Absolutely! An elephant floating by in a hot air balloon? Definitely! It has been a blast getting creative with these amusing pieces.

My goal for these paintings is that they inspire a sense of light-hearted innocence and conjure the inner child in all our hearts; transporting you somewhere magical, like a scene from a storybook.
