40”x40" Original Painting of Storyland, from Something Out of a Storybook: The Baby & Children Collection
This piece is inspired by City Park in New Orleans, but I really wanted it to look like a scene out of a storybook. Some of my favorite calming and imaginative childhood memories are of exploring City Park so I wanted this piece to exude that tenderness. Even today, the park continues to be a huge source of joy and inspiration within my life and work. A print of this painting is already hanging above our baby’s crib. I’m really looking forward to showing him or her the beauty and wonder found in our local park. My favorite aspect of this piece, with its fantastical and idyllic, southern landscape, is its ability to transform different spaces and grow with those who collect it!

Creating this collection has been nothing short of a dream! These paintings have been on my brain for a while, but I was waiting for the right time to paint such special, jovial artwork. When I found out that we would be expecting our first child this summer, I knew I had to get started creating this adorable collection.
Have you experienced moments where everything seems too good to be true, somewhat surreal, or something like it’s straight out of a storybook?... Have you ever then feared something happening to wreck such bliss?
Throughout my journey to motherhood, this has been a frequent feeling. However, I try to actively appreciate the joyous, light-hearted feeling, instead of thinking it's naive and bracing for impact. While I know there will be challenges, I pray that I can relish and appreciate each moment of motherhood and celebrate this incredible gift. I would love to teach my child to cherish these small treasures, but something tells me that he or she will teach me more on enjoying the small, everyday moments.
While painting this collection, I tapped into my best child-like sense of happiness and imagination. I’d think, what would a child love to see… more confetti? Yes! A giraffe with t-rex arms playing the saxophone? Absolutely! An elephant floating by in a hot air balloon? Definitely! It has been a blast getting creative with these amusing pieces.
My goal for these paintings is that they inspire a sense of light-hearted innocence and conjure the inner child in all our hearts; transporting you somewhere magical, like a scene from a storybook.

How incredible would it be to begin life, learn, and grow in the presence of a beautiful, whimsical original artwork? A painting that you'll one day see in the background of all of your childhood memories! I created each painting in this collection to become a classic; a piece that grows in step with your baby and then becomes an heirloom that can be passed down to your baby's baby.
While all of the paintings would look precious in a nursery or child's room, some of the paintings were designed with hanging in a living room or playroom in mind. In my opinion, we could always add more child-like innocence and fun to our every day!
